A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the unveiling of, and first performances on, the first ever Fluid Piano™.
This special event will feature world premières of the first ever compositions for the Fluid Piano™ composed and performed by the inventor Geoff Smith and composers/pianists Matthew Bourne, Nikki Yeoh and Pam Chowhan.
The inventor and musicians will answer questions after the performance and will discuss the controversy and intense debate surrounding the Fluid Piano™. There will also be an opportunity to look at this beautifully made and technically intriguing instrument.
“The musical equivalent of splitting the atom.”
“Composer reinvents the piano.”

What is the Fluid Piano™?
The invention of the Fluid Piano™ enables musicians to alter each note individually and separately by precise intervals of less than a semi-tone per note before or during performance.
This is made possible by Geoff Smith’s patented Fluid Tuning™ mechanism, which liberates the instrument from the restrictions of ‘western’ tuning to make the Fluid Piano™ the first ‘multi-cultural’ and ‘inter-ethnic’ acoustic piano.
This enables the musician to explore and experiment with an immense diversity of ‘bespoke‘ tuning layouts and ‘indigenous’ scales and modes from around the world (for example, from middle eastern cultures) or if the musician chooses then the instrument can remain in the standard ‘western’ tuning.
