Franco Franchi was born at Castiglioncello, Livorno, Itlay in 1951. He now lives and works at Rosignano Solvay, Livorno. During his early years Franchi studied at l'Instituto Statale d'Arte di Lucca and the Academy of Art in Florence. The guidance of sculptors such as Vitaliano de Angelis and Oscar Gallo, both Maestri, helped in developing his career. In 1976 Franchi became an assistant teacher at the Academy delle Belle Arti in Florence.

His prolific output of sculpture and drawings have been exhibited in Switzerland and all over Italy, including a recent exhibition in the Museo Nazionale in Florence. In 1986, while exhibiting at Palazzo Pretorio de Certaldo in Florence, he was awarded the Premio Italia first prize for his sculpture Beato Angelico.
