Centre for Educational and Academic Development

Welcome to the Centre for Educational and Academic Development

The Centre for Educational and Academic Development (CEAD) works collaboratively with academic staff and other professional services to enhance teaching, learning and assessment and the evaluation of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Our aim is to promote teaching as a professional activity in a research-led university to support the ongoing enhancement of the quality of learning opportunities that we offer to our students. In conjunction with colleagues from across the university, we provide educational and academic development opportunities delivering workshops, short courses and accredited programmes and producing developmental materials, guides, leaflets and electronic resources for academic staff, including those new to the university and more experienced practitioners.

Staff associated with the Centre have broad experience and expertise in the delivery of a range of Higher Education development opportunities including the application of technology-enhanced approaches to developing curriculum-based learning. Our network of Faculty CEAD Scholars ensure that we address real issues in learning and teaching with an approach that is scholarly and reflective and informed by current research in learning and teaching.

You can find out more about the Centre by exploring this site further. We hope that it provides a useful point of access to our resources. Suggestions for additional content are always welcome and we can be contacted by telephone 01483 683362 or email s.ponsford@surrey.ac.uk or by a visit to the Centre . We are currently located on the 5th floor of the Duke of Kent building (map).
