Security Technologies and Applications

This page lists the compulsory and optional modules available for the MSc in Security Technologies and Applications programme for the 2011/2012 academic year.

A description of the expected academic standard for a masters degree can be found in the Quality Assurance Agency's Framework for Higher Education Qualifications. Our programmes are assessed by the QAA and accredited by the BCS, who ensure that the subjects that we provide are appropriate for a Computing degree. Themes show broad topics that run throughout the programme that can be mapped to the QAA's Computing Subject Benchmark. The level descriptor provides an indication of the expectations on you during your studies and is taken from the Quality Assurance Agency's (QAA) Higher Education Credit Framework.

Level M

At level M, students are expected to "display mastery of a complex and specialised area of knowledge and skills, employing advanced skills to conduct research, or advanced technical or professional activity, accepting accountability for related decision making, including use of supervision" (QAA 2008).

In the Autumn semester all modules are compulsory, while in the Spring semester 3 modules are compulsory and 1 is optional. All modules are supported online through ULearn. Module descriptions can be found in the main catalog.
