  • Division of Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering

  • The Department of Computing has an international reputation for research and teaching. We are recognised for our high quality teaching, support, organisation, resources and development in the National Student Survey, with an overall 95% student satisfaction. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise 50% of its research was rated as world leading or internationally excellent.
  • Department of Electronic Engineering

  • The Department of Mathematics has widely recognised research groups in nonlinear mathematics and statistics and runs a lively PhD programme. It offers a range of undergraduate BSc and MMath courses in Mathematics in an environment where teaching and research are well integrated.

  • Division of Mechanical, Medical, and Aerospace Engineering
  • The Department of Physics is a friendly medium-sized department with approximately 200 students studying for MPhys and BSc degrees, as well 60 taking our focused, vocational MSc's, and 75 PhD students. These are taught by 24 academics. It is almost unique amongst UK physics departments in offering all MPhys and BSc students a year in either industry or an internationally leading research lab. The Department has a strong reputation in research; in the latest Research Assessment Exercise, 55% of its research was rated as world leading or internationally excellent.
