Pro-Chancellor Penelope Keith opens Clinical Simulation Suite
Tuesday 19 January 2010
Yesterday evening, Monday 18 January, The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences was delighted to welcome Pro-Chancellor Penelope Keith to formally open their Clinical Simulation Suite located in the Duke of Kent building
In line with the rapid advancements in technology and demands on resources, and the challenges that health care professionals in the NHS face every day, the Division of Health and Social Care, have invested in a modern Clinical Simulation Suite in order to give students the opportunity to practice what they require to meet these challenges and to be prepared fully for their professional roles.
The high fidelity simulators will maximise learning and will enable students to meet the high standards of realistic patient care. The Suite consists of a simulated ward, an operating theatre, an intensive care unit, a maternity unit and a community flat. All these are fully equipped with the most up to date simulators and audio visual aids.
The evening was attended by various senior members of the Faculty and the University of Surrey, other eminent guests from the health industry and people who have been instrumental in the Clinical Suite being developed and installed.
