Nutrition Society meets at Surrey Sports Park

Tuesday 6 December 2011

The inaugural event of The Nutrition Society’s Training and Education Programme was held at the Surrey Sports Park on 1-2 November 2011. Dr Richard Budgett, the Chief Medical Officer for the 2012 Olympics, was in attendance.

The training day, with 53 delegates, saw international experts Professor Louise Burke, Dr Trent Stellingwerff and Dr Adam Collins deliver learner-focussed workshops and practical sessions, highlighting best practice nutritional strategies for athletes.

197 delegates attended the conference day to hear lectures delivered by the Sport and Exercise Nutrition textbook authors and editors, highlighting areas from within the text. It was pleasure to have Dr Budgett, Chief Medical Officer for the Olympics 2012 and Professor Sue Lanham-New, NS Textbook Series Editor as chairpersons for the day. The Sport and Exercise Nutrition book launch was opened by Dr Budgett and gave delegates a great opportunity to meet and discuss the day.

The venue provided a high energy backdrop to the event especially the Activity Studios and Surrey Human Performance Institute laboratories.
