Researchers meet the Queen

Wednesday 30 November 2011

Researchers working on an innovative diagnostic test for prostate cancer spoke to the Queen about their project during her visit to Guildford Cathedral.

Professor Hardev Pandha and Dr Richard Morgan talked to Her Majesty about the nature and progress of the EN2 test – a new means of more reliably detecting prostate cancer via urine samples.

Professor Pandha told the Surrey Advertiser: “It was a great honour… the Queen asked what the intention of the new test was and what it intended to achieve – she showed interest and knew about it.”

The Queen and Prince Phillip travelled to Guildford on 18 November to mark the Jubilee Celebration of Guildford Cathedral.

Her Majesty consecrated the town's cathedral in 1961.

As well as the EN2 researchers, several other University representatives were fortunate enough to meet the Queen. They included Vice-Chancellor Professor Christopher Snowden and representatives from the Multi-Faith Centre project.
