Programme Overview

The extensive and increasing media coverage of nutritional health issues in recent years, coupled with the fact that vitamin, mineral and dietary supplements are the largest and fastest-growing OTC (over-the-counter) product sector in the UK and across Europe, testifies to the growing awareness of the importance to the public of such issues. The subject of Nutritional Medicine includes Clinical Nutrition but is wider in scope, covering all aspects of nutrition and health.

Core Modules: These are an obligatory component of the MSc/Postgraduate Diploma and will be offered every year.

  • Principles of Nutritional Science
  • Principles of Applied Nutrition and Epidemiology

  • Antioxidants, Phytochemicals and Disease
  • Obesity, Diabetes and Eating Disorders
  • Diet, the Gut, Food Allergy and Intolerance
  • Nutritional Aspects of Pregnancy, Infancy and Childhood
  • Nutrition and Ageing
  • Lipids and Essential Fatty Acids
  • Trace Elements and Electrolytes in Health and Disease
  • Clinical Nutrition and Nutritional Support
  • Nutrition and Exercise for Health and Sports Performance
  • The Brain and Nervous System; Diet and Behaviour
