Visiting Students
The Centre for Translation Studies is pleased to welcome international students to its undergraduate programme. Students come from our partner institutions or apply individually. You can join us for one or two semesters and learn about British culture first hand in a friendly atmosphere with experienced translation professionals and leading academics. You will be awarded credits through the European Credit Transfer system for all the modules which you successfully complete.
There is also the opportunity, should you need it, to apply for any of our English Language Support classes which help you with essay writing, speaking, technical report writing, academic reading & note taking, grammar revision and much more. Year long students can study another language through the Global Graduate Award programme also offered by the Department. This offers 11 different languages at various stages including Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.
Before you arrive you will be sent an induction programme detailing the induction events which will happen in your first week at the university. For the majority of your classes you will be with home students studying towards their degrees. You must remain at the university until the end of the semester, as even though classes may have finished there will still be work to hand in or exams to take.

Some modules have very limited availability an may not be available to exchange students.
Semester 2 ModulesStudents would normally study 4 modules each semester to achieve 60 Surrey Credits (30 ECTS).

Accommodation
Students who wish to spend a year at the University or to come only for the Spring semester will be able to apply for accommodation on campus. Due to great demand on rooms students only studying for semester 1 will have to seek private accommodation. The University’s accommodation office will help students to do this and you will also be able to apply for temporary accommodation on campus before term starts so that you have a chance to find a place once you get here.
