Surrey Graduate Qualifies at Clifford Chance

Wednesday 9 June 2010

Hannah Orchard who studied Law and French at Surrey between 2002 and 2006 has recently qualified as a solicitor at Clifford Chance, one of the world's leading law firms. The School of Law are very proud of Hannah who was admitted to the role of solicitor in February after completing her training contract. Hannah's role as an assets/projects lawyer involves either asset finance (aircraft, ships, trains etc) or project finance (oil and gas, renewable energy, infrastructure etc).

During her time at Surrey, Hannah did two placements in Paris: one as a student at Université Paris V where she was able to hone her French language skills and learn about the French legal system; and one gaining work experience with a notaire (a specific kind of lawyer that deals largely with conveyancing and family law).

Hannah said 'I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Surrey, I felt supported by the lecturers throughout my search for a training contract and was pleased that the hard work paid off and I graduated with a 2:1. I received my offer of a training contract from Clifford Chance at the beginning of my final year (City law firms recruit two or two-and-a-half years in advance)'
