- Is there any work placement during the programme?
There is no provision for work placement during the MBA programme but there will be opportunities to carry out consultancies for client companies on company-based research projects.
- Can I work during a full time programme?
The MBA full-time programme is very intensive and requires attendance five days a week: Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm.

- Can I pay in instalments?
Yes
- How many other students will be on my programme, in my lectures, in my study group?
Lectures: between 20-25 students; Study groups: 5 members in each group.
- What nationality will the other students be?
The School of Management is truly an international School with students from all across the globe.
- What is the average age of students on my programme?
On the whole students on the MBA programme tend to be in their mid-thirties with 3 to 5 years of middle to senior managerial experience.
- What is the cost of living in Guildford?
The cost of renting one of the campus rooms can vary from £45 to £100 per week depending upon the type of accommodation. The cost of food is not included in this fee.
- Shall I send references with my application?
Yes, you need to send two work references, one of which must be from your last employer. For information about this, please look at our MBA Prospectus.
- I have been speaking English since childhood; do I need an English test result?

- Can I apply for more than one programme?
Should you not be offered a place on the MBA programme, you might find that we make an alternative offer for one of our other Masters programmes.
- Is there a closing date for applications?
We have a rolling admission process but the MBA is a very popular programme and early application is advised to avoid disappointment.
- On full time programmes how many lectures will there be each week?
You will be expected to attend lectures and workshops on a full time basis. These lectures will be spread out over five days (Monday through Friday inclusive, 9am - 4pm).
- On part time programmes how many lectures will there be each week?
Part time (Evening):
2 evenings per week - Tuesdays and Thursdays
6.00pm to 9.00pm
10 weeks per term with 2 Reading Weeks per term and 4 weeks holiday for Christmas, 4 weeks holiday at Easter and 8 weeks Summer Vacation.
Part time (Saturdays):
10 Saturdays per term with with 2 Reading Weeks per term and 4 weeks holiday for Christmas, 4 weeks holiday at Easter and 8 weeks Summer Vacation.
- Are there lectures every day?
Lectures and seminars are held over five days (Mondays to Fridays).
- Can I study a foreign language during my programme?
As a student at the University of Surrey you are able to study a foreign language, regardless of your main subject, with the School of Arts Language Centre. There are no additional fees for this.
- Will I get help with my English?
The School of Arts Language Centre offers a wide variety of help with spoken and written English including reading, listening to lectures, planning and writing an essay and vocabulary development.
- How is work assessed?
Work is assessed through a combination of group projects, individual assignments and case study examinations which are followed by the completion of a dissertation which is submitted in August.
- Are there examinations?
There is one exam in the Research Methods module and a case study examination at the end of the programme.
- Can I work in the UK after graduation?
The UK government has announced a new provision for graduates of 50 top business schools to work in the UK for up to 12 months on completing their MBAs. This provision forms part of the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP).
