Where are they now?

Our graduates use their skills as physicists in a huge range of careers, working in fields from satellite technology to data management. Typically around a third or more of our graduates go on to study for a higher degree, such as a PhD or an MSc.

Read more about experiences of our graduates in their own words in the profiles below:

  • Vicki Hodges, who studied for a BSc in Physics with Satellite Technology and is now working for the satellite company Astrium
  • Amy Bartlett, who studied for an MPhys in Physics with Nuclear Astrophysics and a PhD in theoretical nuclear physics, and is now working for the consultancy company Detica
  • Kumbi Makore, who studied for an MSc in Medical Physics, and who now works as a medical physicist in an oncology clinic in Wimbledon.

Graduate Destinations

The University of Surrey writes to its graduates approximately six months after they have graduated and asks after their job, whether they are undertaking further study etc. We have the results of this survey. Examples of jobs our graduates have gone on to are: Graduate Engineer at Astrium, Consultant at Cascade Technologies and Remote Sensing Scientist at QinetiQ.
