Description: This award was granted to support the development of a final year Enquiry-based module entitled: Living in the Global: Experiencing Globalization. The module is designed experientially with the emphasis being on students developing their own understanding of the meaning of globalization through narratives, discourse, dialogue, collaboration, and cooperation. The module uses the students’ own diverse cultural backgrounds as a resource which can be brought into the learning process to provide rich, thick insights into the diverse discourses and meanings of globalization. Learning has been delivered through 2 hour weekly workshops that have included discourse analysis, analysis of audio-visual material (TV, documentaries and film), kinetic learning, and small-group dialogue and debate. The module culminates in a one-day academic-style conference in which students will present papers in themed panels.
