Project Title: EUwiki - Democratising Knowledge of the EU

Project Description: The aim of our project is to bring EU politics closer to the students and to facilitate the acquisition of encyclopaedic knowledge about European institutions, policy areas, and current debates about the future of the Union. Wikis provide an exciting medium to encourage students’ involvement in the learning process and provides a tangible outcome in terms of personal and professional development.

Project Title: Employing Research Methods in the Metaverse

Project Description: Our culture and educational reality is constantly transformed by developments in cyberspace, and Second Life is one of them. In our Research Method course we use this virtual world to support social learning activities. In several instances throughout the year we examine the interactive benefits of Second Life by conducting short research interviews and social experiments and then use the data for the students’ research papers.

2007-8

Simon Usherwood

Project Description: This project investigated the use of interactive whiteboards as part of a student-led negotiation exercise. These whiteboards provided an interesting and stimulating means of recording the discussions and the decisions that came out of them and highlighted the benefits of bringing together pre-prepared materials and classroom notes.
