International Students
Studying Politics means studying the real world and developing the skills to make sense of that world. A degree in Politics is not geared to any particular type of job. It will prepare you for many forms of employment or further study. You will gain analytical and practical skills, invaluable in today's competitive employment market.

The Department of Politics is a small and friendly department which provides opportunities for individual attention. Our staff bring with them international quality research and outstanding teaching expertise demonstrated by an “excellent” teaching quality rating from the Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency, a “5” in the Research Assessment Exercise, and many books, articles and research grants. Some of our staff also have experience as overseas students themselves and all the staff have got considerable international experience. You will be in good hands with us.
We welcome non-UK students for the fresh insights which they bring and will do our best to help you. At UniS English language courses are offered to overseas students guiding them through intensive programs of study skills, essay writing techniques, reading and research methods, listening and note-taking, seminar skills and more. After all, graduating from a degree course in a British university is effectively 2 qualifications in one, as fluency in English is an asset in its own right. View the University's Language Centre for English website.
British qualifications are recognised and respected around the world. Their reputation is such that, when you return home, you'll find that your British Qualification boosts your career and salary prospects. The UK is a cosmopolitan place to live. Many thousands of families from around the world have made the UK their home, creating a richly diverse, open-minded, multicultural society. There are also more than a quarter of a million international students in the UK at any one time.
Thousands of scholarships and bursaries are offered by UK institutions just for international students, while more than 21, 000 international students receive scholarship funding from the UK Government every year. Under existing work regulations, international students in the UK can work up to 20 hours a week when studying and full time during vacations. View the British Council's website for bursaries.
