Training Opportunities
During your time at Surrey, you will be encouraged to take up a variety of training opportunities.
The University has put together a Postgraduate Skills Development Programme, which is open to all research students and covers topics from time management and communication skills through to managing your supervisor and preparing for the viva voce examination.
Where relevant, you will also be able to take research methods modules run as part of taught postgraduate programmes within the Department of Political, International and Policy Studies (for example, 'Introduction to Research' and 'Research in Practice'). These cover practical skills such as interviewing, document analysis and using statistical software packages, as well as more general issues such as ethical issues in political research and writing up your research for different audiences.
