Limited funding opportunities are available. These are highly competitive and you should contact the Department well ahead of deadline dates to maximize your chances of success.  
•  ESRC-funded studentships are now distributed through the South East Doctoral Training Centre (DTC). These are available for 3 year (+3), 4 year (1+3) and part-time (5 year) studentships, and also possibly with a collaborative partner.  These studentships are limited to UK residents or EU citizens who have been resident in the UK for three years. Completed applications, including a developed research proposal and supervisory arrangements, are normally due in early February each year.  
• Faculty Research Studentships (for students with a First Class Honours degree and/or a Distinction in their Masters)
