International Business Management BSc (Hons) – 2014 entry

I am very pleased that I decided to come to Surrey and am very happy with my course. It makes me stand out from the numerous other students with business-related degrees as it equips students to analyse the business world with an international aspect.

What you'll study

Our International Business Management degree draws on our proven experience in providing management education. You will study organisations, their management and the changing global environment in which they operate. You will also gain the necessary skills for a successful management career.

The International Business Management degree provides you with a broad, analytical and integrated study of business processes specifically geared to global issues such as international strategy and cross-cultural management. It is ideal for those wishing to pursue a general business management degree, with the added benefit of a global outlook and international orientation.

Surrey Business School has a strong global reputation and you will benefit from the fact that this programme is taught by international staff. Furthermore, our international exchange programme enables you to optimise your learning in your first semester of Year 2 by spending time at one of our partner universities in Europe, the Americas, Australia or the Far East.

Programme overview

In this programme, we will provide you with a truly international experience. The programme is designed for students who wish to pursue a general business management degree, but in addition have international aspirations.

The programme combines mainstream management modules, such as Financial Accounting and Marketing Principles, with modules exclusively designed for international business. Globalisation of Emerging Markets, for example, offers a comprehensive look at the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China), as well as South Africa and Eastern Europe, as they integrate with the global economy. The programme will enhance your understanding of multinational companies and their strategies, as well as exploring how ‘local’ companies compete against such global players. You will also receive training on how to understand and benefit from cultural differences, and have the opportunity to explore the ethics of international business.

Our international exchange programme allows students the opportunity to select from world-class universities in Europe, the Americas, Australia or the Far East. Through this programme, you will gain the necessary skills for a successful career in multinational corporations.
